Captain
Chad Denton
Captain Chad has been fishing for as long as he can remember. Growing up bass fishing and chasing offshore species with his family, he developed a respect for the water early on and a passion for the challenge that comes with finding fish. After seven years as a licensed captain, he’s learned that no two days on the water are the same. Conditions change, fish move, and the best days come from knowing how to read the water, adapt, and take advantage of the opportunities the ocean gives you. As a captain, Chad enjoys the challenge of putting the pieces together each day. From watching the weather and water conditions to finding the right areas and figuring out what the fish want, he’s always looking for that next opportunity. Wahoo has a special place at the top of his list when the conditions are right, while mahi is a close second, especially when a good mahi bite can bring other pelagic species into the spread. For Chad, the best part of being a captain is seeing guests come back to the dock excited about their day on the water. The ocean has a way of making people feel alive, and being able to share that experience with others is what keeps him coming back. When he’s not on the water, you’ll likely find Chad chasing the next good wave or spending time at the pool table.

Jeremiah Johnson, better known as "JJ," was born and raised in Fort Pierce, Florida. Growing up on these waters, he developed a lifelong passion for fishing, hunting, diving, and everything the outdoors has to offer. Today, that passion is what drives him every time he steps aboard Smokin Fish. As a certified scuba diver and experienced offshore fisherman, JJ is comfortable in every aspect of the fishery—from trolling and bottom fishing to live baiting and deep dropping. His local knowledge and hands-on experience help give every trip the best chance for success. What JJ enjoys most is sharing the waters he calls home with every guest who steps aboard. As Charter Coordinator, she's usually the first person guests connect with when planning their offshore fishing adventure. From booking trips and answering questions to coordinating schedules, preparing invoices, and confirming charter details, Lydia is dedicated to making the planning process easy, organized, and stress-free.
Behind the scenes, she also manages Smokin Fish Charters' photography, social media, and video content, helping share the excitement of every trip and giving guests memories they can look back on long after they return to the dock.
Her favorite part of the job is helping guests create unforgettable experiences on the water. Whether you're a first-time angler or a seasoned offshore fisherman, Lydia is always happy to help you get ready for an incredible day with Smokin Fish Charters.
